Score One for Final Fantasy IV

August 28, 2008 @ 7:12 pm

It’s been a bleeping month since Final Fantasy IV DS been released in the states. For the last month, I’ve been asking my dad to do a stake out at the PX on Tuesdays and Thursdays to see if the game would be put out on the shelf. Knowing that the PX is slow, I figured it’d take about three weeks for them to put it out. WRONG. It’s been over a month, and it’s still not out!

Let’s just say that I was finally getting fed up with the PX and decided to ask someone there if the game was even SHIPPED to the PX. Some dude came to answer my question, where a very frustrating conversation ensued.

Me: I just wanted to know if Final Fantasy IV for the DS will come at all.
Dude: *takes me back to the DS shelf* This is what we have.
Me: No, I want to know if the game will ever COME to the PX and be on the shelf.
Dude: This is what we have right now, and we stock on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Me: *thinks — I thought it was Tuesdays and Thursdays . . . * Okay, but will Final Fantasy IV ever be shipped over here?
Dude: *repeats his previous line*
Me: *finally, in Korean* Look, I don’t care about what’s here in front of me, I want to know if you guys even ORDERED the game to come here. It’s already been a month since it’s been released in the states.
Dude: Blahblahblahblah.
Me: I know you guys have a list somewhere that shows what games has been ordered. Can I just see that please?
Dude: The list?
Me: Yes. The list that SHOWS what games is due to arrive here.
Dude: *goes and brings back the list where the game in question was shipped out on July 22 at the bottom of the list*
Me: THAT ONE. *points*
Dude: Oh, Final Fantasy IV, let me go ask the stock room.
Me: *waits*
Dude: *comes back and says something about August 15* (I’m guessing he said that the shipment came in then?) Hold on, let me go check the stock room.
Me: *waits again*
Dude: *comes back, gives me the said game, and walks off before I could say anything*
Me: *mouth gapes open and accepts the game* Why didn’t you guys put this out on the shelf!? *calls out to the helpful but yet unhelpful dude* Thank you!

WHAT AN ORDEAL. Yes, the majority of the workers at the PX have some rather poor customer service and aren’t very knowledgeable at times. Very frustrating when I have to resort to asking them something . . . REALLY simple. Reminds me of the ordeal I went through to asking someone there how much the sixth Harry Potter book was going to cost X____X;;

Anyway, I got the game, and to end the day even better, my dear ol’ daddy paid for it! Thank you, Daddy! :3 And now I’m looking forward to the first three-day weekend since July 4th. THANK YOU, LABOUR DAY.

August 2008 Nostalgia Part II

August 25, 2008 @ 8:58 pm

Couple weeks ago, I wrote about my travels through memory lane. I shall be walking down that same lane again over the span of days or weeks. The only difference is that these three DVD sets will be my best friends. Come on, $13 for each DVD set? That’s not bad at all. Plus, I also ordered this. Yes, I’m lame.

Rocky and Bullwinkle! Dudley Do-Right! Mr. Peabody and Sherman! Fractured Fairy Tales! I WILL BE IN HEAVEN.

Oh and add my father to the list of watching Rocky and Bullwinkle. XD He shall be seeing these after myself, so both of us will be travelling down the SAME memory lane. X_X;; That’s actually kind of scary. I guess in some ways, the generation gap isn’t that huge between us.

Beijing Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony

August 24, 2008 @ 11:01 pm

I’ve watched the opening ceremony, so I had to see the closing ceremony.

It was . . . meh. Amazing, yes, but compared to the opening, it didn’t leave me that “WOW” impact. It was fun watching it, though. Watching it with my mother was an interesting experience, I’ll tell you that. She was very, er, enthusiastic.

Ah well. Now that the Olympics finally over . . . time to go back into my hole of not paying attention to current events.

Panties Guider and Other Preschool Funnies

August 21, 2008 @ 11:46 pm

Today, I felt like Chi from Chobits. That scene where she says “panties” about a million times? I said that word about that much. Only difference is that I was loudly saying the following sentences about ten times each:

“Where are your panties?”
“Put your panties on!”
“Take your shoes off first and then take the panties off!”
“Whose panties are these?!”
“Take your panties off before you wear your swimsuit!”

Today was our weekly water play day with the preschoolers. X_X;; Take it from me that it’s not easy supervising about ten girls to change from their clothes into their swimsuit and back into their clothes. It’s definitely a humongous task to ensure that these girls take care of their clothes and not get them mixed up with one another. X_X;; Sure once they are out, and we get to spray them with the hose, it’s fun, but the preparation and the ending part sucks! Thank goodness this is the last time we are having water play.

Let’s just say I definitely felt like a pervert after I realised just how many times I’ve said that word today! OI.

*ahem* Along with the, er, panties, here are some other funny preschool moments I’ve encountered last month.

#1: We reviewed about Yellowstone National Park. I asked them to name it, and they said, “YelloROCK”.

#2: When I asked them to name the Yosemite National Park, they all called it the “Redwood Forest Park”.

#3: The Washington Memorial became the “Tall Tower Thingie”. On the flip side, after I told them to remember that the Lincoln Memorial was the long, wide one, they called it the “Long Washington Memorial”.

#4: I showed them a picture of the Spaceship Mountain at the Epcot Centre, and one kid shouted, “It’s a golf ball!” This literally made me speechless as I burst out laughing realising how right the kid was.

Ah, preschoolers. I shall miss the good kids who are transitioning next week and the week after to Kindergarten and Pre-K. X_x;;

Kimchi Pride

August 18, 2008 @ 7:49 pm

It has been several weeks since I’ve eaten “real food” at home. My recent diet consisted of ramen, microwaveable food, or eating out.

Today my mother made some fresh kimchi and ground beef/tofu meatloaf. Combine that with some leftover restaurant 잡채 (Jabchae) and a bowl of sticky rice, YUMMMMMMMMMM.

I haven’t had fresh kimchi in ages! I absolutely adore those, more so than ripe kimchi. I only like eating ripe kimchi when it’s in pancakes, soup, or in fried rice. I cannot eat it alone with rice; that makes me rather ill since fermented and ripened kimchi is just . . . BLARGH.

Yes, I’m an oddball of a Korean. XD But dude. FRESH KIMCHI FTW. Actually, make that fresh home-made kimchi ftw!
