Version 22

*dies* I spent the last three hours changing the layout. NO MORE. HOMG. My eyes need rest! No more coding! And I STILL HATE WP COMPLICATED AND CONVOLUTED DESIGN!

*ahem* On the more saner side, I like how this turned out. I have no clue what is up with me and sakuras since I’ve used an image of it again for this layout. Hunh. I guess I like that flower more than I realise.

Anyway, I hope you guys like the new look! Let me know what you think. :3

Tadaima!

The subject line means “I’m back,” for those who might not know what I mean.

Yes, I’m home, and I’m glad to be home for one real reason:

I NEED TO GET OVER THIS TONSILLITIS.

. . . Yes, my tonsils crapped out on me while I was in Tokyo. Or should I call it Tokyo-llitis now? Whatever. Real update on the trip will come soon!

Departure for Tokyo Trip 2008

May 23, 2008 @ 5:59 am (Permalink)

Pack my check in luggage with a whole bunch of crap. Check.

Pack carry on luggage with the essential. Check.

Squeal like an annoying fangirl. Check.

In a few more hours, I shall be in the Land of the Rising Sun! I’ll miss my Internet activities! Catching up will be a pain, but is it all worth to go to Tokyo? Hell fucking yeah! I’ll be back on Monday night!

Nineteen Hours Showdown

May 16, 2008 @ 11:35 pm (Permalink)

I had to wake up at 4:00 in the morning to go to work today.

It. Was. Hell. I am so not a morning person. I did see something that I never thought I’d see in Korea. I arrived at my workplace and was outside. I happened to look up and I saw a flock of something flying away in the V-formation. I never saw that before and especially here! I guess there is a perk to waking up at the most awful time ever, but trust me when I say it will not be a habit.

After getting off work, I went to What the Book in Itaewon to finally pick up my $93.85 worth of mangas and a solo book. YEAH! I’ve ordered Junjou Romantica volumes 1-5, Necratoholic, Hybrid Child, and The Old Capital by Kawabata Yasunari. I’ve been waiting anxiously for these. Then I headed over to “Hell Beans” in Itaewon (it’s really called Hello Beans) and read three of the mangas. Guess who’s going to finish reading the rest of them this weekend along with watching more Kyo Kara Maoh!?

Then I met Sarah, who invited me to a grand opening at Amigos, a new Mexican restaurant that opened in Itaewon. We all got free buffet and drinks. Yummy! I never knew Mexican food, made by what I presumed to be staffs who are mostly Koreans, would be delicious. Once I find out the prices, I wouldn’t mind going back there. After that, Sarah and I bummed around and ghetto drank for a couple more hours, after a side quest of going to Sarah’s friend’s house for a quick errand. An errand that didn’t quite work out. Korean version of Windows is way too confusing! AUGH!

Long day. Really, long. I’m so effing exhausted. Thank goodness for the weekends.

Side Note: ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL TOKYO HEAVEN. Must start packing!

Economic Stimulus Act of 2008

May 13, 2008 @ 6:51 pm (Permalink)

When I heard about this back in February, I was ecstatic. I already had plans of using that $300 either towards my Tokyo funds or towards my future, ever so elusive digital piano.

Then today, while Daddy was driving us home from work today, he said, “The government had made a mistake. A mistake that won’t hurt them but will hurt you.”

. . . I discovered that full-time college students who were claimed as someone’s dependents are ineligible for the rebate. This absolutely sucks donkey’s balls. My dad made a very good point on saying that college students, with their tuitions, textbook fees, and whatnot would have contributed to the economy with that rebate, which was the purpose of it in the first place! But no! College students are exempted because we have that whole “poor college students” image to keep up!

I know from personal experience that tuition and textbook costs are deadly to anyone’s bank account. I remember how I’d always be broke after paying for my share of these fees that would at most times leave my bank account less than $100 bucks every couple of months. Never mind that I did have some sort of a paying job, most of my hard-earned pay cheque went towards my college funds, and believe me when I say that even an extra $100 or $300 would have helped me out a whole lot, and any other college students out there. I may not be a political or economical genius, but even I can say that something like this is truly messed up.

Luckily, because of my dad’s generosity, he will forsake his $300 rebate and give it to me, but I know many families are not going to have that option. My sympathies to all college students who were expecting the rebate but got cheated out of it. I feel for you.
