Viva la Vivaldi

To get away from my dismal times of Shakespeare and modern poetry, I have discovered my newest obsessions: Nigel Kennedy and Dark Moor.
I discovered them during work today, probably the only highlight of the day, and I am pleased to say that as much as I’m not a big fan of music covers, I like good music covers.
I have to say that I am a big fan of Antonio Vivaldi’s Le Quattro Stagioni (aka The Four Seasons): L’Inverno, first and second movement. That would be Winter. With that and the third movement of L’Estate (Summer), I would kill to hear and see it live in a music hall.
…Well, I discovered that seeing it on Youtube with Nigel Kennedy and the English Chamber Orchestra is not a bad alternative. Check out the first movement of L’Estate here. If you like, then there are more to look here. I keep watching and listening to these videos. I am enthralled.
Moving on. I admit that I am not a big fan of electric guitar, or guitars in general. The mere idea of combining electric guitar and Vivaldi would make me cringe with disgust. However, today proved me wrong with Dark Moor’s performance of, again, the first movement of L’Estate. Oh, man. Granted, I prefer the original, string orchestra version, but listening to this one is quite a mind-boggling experience!
I urge you guys to check it out. It’s simply fascinating. And Dark Moor’s website is in Korean… er… I hope the music just loads for you guys, like it did with me.
Touch Detective 2 1/2

The Goods
* Music was fairly interesting.
* Character designs were intriguing… as someone on the net said, very Tim Burton-esque.
* Funghi was so adorable but useless for the most part.
* Loved Cromwell’s dry sense of humour and butler-esque language.
* The Cornstalker was on crack.
* Inspector Daria reminded me of Jesse and James from Pokemons.
The Bads
* Not playing the prequel didn’t help.
* Some of the characters were aggravating. *coughs* Penelope comes into my mind. Along with that stupid turkey of a mayor.
* How come certain things had to be touched in a specific spot to activate it? Blargh.
* It was kind of frustrating to read both the top and bottom screen text. But I did like reading Mackenzie’s thoughts; reminded me of Phoenix Wright’s thoughts and all in parentheses.
The Uglies
* Too short. Finished it in 9 hours. Wished it was a bit longer.
* The storylines felt … poorly transitioned. In the final case, when it ended, I was like WTF?! That was the ending?
* I wanted to bang my head on the wall since the characters in the games were quite clueless and stupid. Like the real identity of The Cornstalker… ARE THEY BLIND?!
Conclusion
By now, I’ve played three different adventure, point/click games. Of all them, nothing comes up to par as Phoenix Wright, and I am DYING to have that third installment. I am going through a PW-deprivation stage. Anyway, Touch Detective 2 1/2 was okay. Not great, but all right.
The Calm Before the Storm

* I got an A in that Beat class. I rule.
* I finished my poetry midterm paper in ten hours. I rock.
* My Suikoden 4 doujinshi finally came. I drool.
* I got Touch Detective 2 1/2 for the DS yesterday. I play.
* PX does not have Phoenix Wright 3. I mad.
* I do not want face-to-face classes to start up on Monday. I sad.
My life will seriously end on Monday. Until December 22, I am going to wish I was dead. Sarah, who’s taking two online graduate-level classes, and I will definitely get blasted on that day after my final college class. I anticipate the next two months to be quite angst-filled.
New External Hardrive

Like I said before, the only man I need in my life is my dear ol’ Daddy. He sure knows how to spoil me! I told him that an 80gb hdd new computer is not enough for me, so he went off and got me a new 500gb external hdd for whenever I get that new computer (if ever). So along with a 250gb one that I call Slanty, he got me a new Maxtor 500 (more like 450, though) that I call Stooges. I be happy.
TB Tuesday

** Before I go onto my actual entries, I just wanted to let those know that these entries will be cross-posted to my Livejournal now. **
TB Tuesday can be interpreted in two different ways for me. The first way is the fact that I had a free TB shot. OUCH. The second way is that TB stands for “Terribly Busy” or “Terribly Baffled.”
I woke up this morning, feeling rather crappy. I felt like I had the flu with my entire body aching, felt nauseated, and had a major stomach ache. I don’t understand why eating too much popcorn the night before could have caused all this. It baffled me all day. But now I feel better…
But I wished I felt better when I was at the elementary school, subbing for 1st to 5th graders as an art teacher. X_X;; I really don’t think elementary education and I will agree. I’ll stick with secondary or post-secondary.
Then I walked quite painfully to the Ed Centre to sign up for my last two classes. I ended up signing up for:
* ENGL 304: The Major Works of Shakespeare on Mon/Wed @ 1800 ~ 2100.
* PHIL 307: Asian Philosophy on Sat @ 0900 ~ 1600.
After two weeks of angsting and confusion, I finally decided on Asian Philosophy. I really didn’t want to take that, but the idea of commuting to Camp Casey on Saturdays to take American Government wasn’t a fun one.
Then I met up with Ahmi to eat at Dragon. Afterwards, we went to SAHS auditorium for the annual Korean American Friendship Concert. Fantastico…except for one of the soprano singer who cannot carry her voice above the darn orchestra. But really, hearing Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G Minor, Overture to Marriage of Figaro, La Donna Mobile, and Brindisi live was awesome. And hearing a choir sing River from Ennio Morricone’s The Mission soundtrack was awesome. And with an encore of Radetzky March, it was awesome. Ahhh… free concerts like these rocks.
