Registered for School

August 29, 2007 @ 5:48 pm

First day of “work” went well on Monday. Afterwards, I had to register for classes. Those two hours were spent miserably, and I didn’t get to register until Tuesday. Today, I just received my confirmation letter for my online class, so now I can relax a bit. Considering that I went to bed last night at 7pm and woke up today at 6am… yes, Monday must’ve taken a toll on me more than I originally thought!

Starting next week, I shall have fun with these two subjects:

* ENGL 345: Modern Poetry @ Adelphi Distance Education from Sept 4 to Dec 18.
* ENGL 439Oa: The Beats @ every Sunday from 9am to 4pm, face-to-face, first class on Sept 9 for seven weeks.

This should prove interesting. When I’m not stuffing my face with modern poetry, I will be possessed with Jack Kerouac and whoever else from the Beats era. And when I am not going insane with the Beats, I will be frustrated with T.S. Eliot and the other poets from the modern times. Great. This is one of those times I ask myself why I’m an English major. X_X;; I guess I should be glad I am not taking Shakespeare, especially with distance education! Man, Shakespearean English is a different language on its own.

…Then again so are the Beats and modern poets’ English. *sighs* I just hope the modern poetry class’ workload isn’t a miserable one.

Summer Vacation Completion

August 26, 2007 @ 8:44 pm

Tomorrow, I go back to “work.”

Yay… it will be good to be back in the band room and all, but at the same time, I certainly wished my never-ending days of bumming around didn’t end!

I’m still not sure if I completed a lot that I wanted, though. I mean, I look back at some of the stuff I did during the last couple months, and a lot of it deals with video gaming. I didn’t watch any anime series, but I did read a lot of mangas. I did some webpage-related stuff, but not as much as I wanted to. I certainly did a lot of RPing this summer, that’s for sure, and wrote a few more fanfics! I read a few books here and there, not as much as I hope to, but it certainly is better than nothing. I still didn’t watch the darn films, the ones I’ve accumulated in my room, I wanted to see, but I still did see a couple at the theatre. On the less geeky note, I still hung out with my friends. At least I didn’t turn into a hermit!

Honestly, though, in the beginning I felt kind of empty just staying home and having all these free times, but now that I’d gotten used to it… I don’t know if I’d want to give it up now! Farewell, freedom. You have have been good to me.

Bokononism, HAH!

August 17, 2007 @ 9:23 pm

…After I read this atrocious little tidbit in the news world, I have more negative commentary against these so-called hypocritical Christians. (And no I am not saying every Christians are hypocrites, but rather some are, as in the ones whose reputation even belittles the good Christians). While I strongly believe that people are entitled to their opinions, this little incident just goes up and beyond opinions. Death of anyone, Veterans, civilians, children, parents, heterosexuals, and homosexuals and hell even animals like our pets deserve a service if one wishes it! And to deny a Veteran? Wow. So much for love thy neighbour and for showing patriotism in the United States.

This coincidentally falls in line with me discovering a new religion: Bokononism! Created by the ever so venerable Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. *grins* I personally think obscure religion, especially one made up for fiction, cracks me up! They are so bizarre but makes absolute sense!

This week I read two of his books. The first one is Galápagos and the other one is Cat’s Cradle. It is with the latter where the whole concept of Bokononism takes place. I enjoyed both of these immensely, but then again, Vonnegut’s black humour is priceless. Both are unique in their own way… but I think Galápagos is slightly up higher on my ranking list than the other. That’s probably due to the most awesomest quote I came upon reading. I mean, in both books, there were plenty of moments that brought a smile to my face, but this quote from Galápagos literally cracked me up while I was reading it at Hell Beans:

I thought that was pretty good. So then I disturbed my father at his typewriter, and asked him what my heritage was from his side of the family. I didn’t know then what a sperm was, and so wouldn’t understand his answer for several years. “My boy,” he said, “you are descended from a long line of determined, resourceful, microscopic tadpoles — champions every one.”

— Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., from Galápagos.

I am not sure why it cracked me up so horribly, but then again my sense of humour can be quite odd at times. But yes, Kurt Vonnegut is a damn genius, and I still think it’s a shame that we lost one of the best writers of the twentieth century.

“Fifth” Anniversary

August 15, 2007 @ 12:15 am

Today officially is the fifth birthday for Aigoo-Chamna as a domain name…

Today officially is the sixth year where I started owning a domain and started hosting with DreamHost.

And today is also one of Korea’s big holiday thing that I have no clue what it is. I’m guessing some kind of Independence Day?

Regardless of all that mumbo jumbo, today is also when my hosting payment is due. But that will be taken care of easily. Provided nothing goes wrong. XD

Okay, AC, you’ve come a long way now. Let’s see if you can hit the ten year mark now!

Hanging Out Central

August 7, 2007 @ 1:58 am

With the exception of last Sunday and Tuesday, I’ve been hanging out like a mofo. Damn, I’m so popular. Right. In my dreams. Here’s a breakdown of what I did.

Saturday, July 28: Last day of class, celebrated it by hanging out with AJ, and I cannot remember what we did o_O;;

Monday, July 30: Met my good friend Sexy and Ahmi. Ahmi and I hung out first after my job interview, then Sexy joined us later, and Sexy nearly killed Ahmi and me from too much laughingitis.

Wednesday, August 1: Ahmi and I went bowling where we played two games, and then we hung out at a HOF in my neighbourhood.

Thursday, August 2: Sexy came over to my house at about 9:00pm, and then we went to a random cafe.

Friday, August 3: o_O What the hell did Sexy and I do that day?! *mind goes absolutely blank. Was that the day where we went to Dongdaemun and Myeong-dong?! I think it was! *dies at how bad my memory is*

Saturday, August 4: Met AJ and Ahmi to watch The Simpsons Movie, which was quite enjoyable. Then AJ and I had dinner at Dragon, and then after that, I met up with Sexy again afterwards where we went to that HOF I went earlier in the week.

Sunday, August 5: I met AJ again at Coffee Beans before I met Mike where we had dinner and whatnot. Then afterwards, I met Sexy and we hung out McDonald’s in Itaewon. Boy, this day kept me quite occupied.

Monday, August 6: Sexy and I met up and hung out at Sarah’s place before we went back to McDonald’s.

O_O Wow. Talk about one dizzy social life. OI!
