Real Summer Vacation

July 28, 2007 @ 10:45 pm

Now that term five ended officially for me today, is it safe to assume that my real summer vacation started now? I hope so.

Much enjoyment will be created during this newly found freedom of not having to worry about going to school for a month or so.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t ease my nerve about a job interview on Monday. X_X;; Oi. And of course if I do get the job, then I have to go back into the work force… Oh well! But until I do get a job, I shall live it up of being a free bum by creating much fanfictions, RPing, and all the other fun stuff I want to do!

Slackless Mum

July 23, 2007 @ 8:56 pm

I just nearly died from too much laughingitis. It’s amazing how history can repeat itself. Back when I was in 9th or 10th grade, I was at home, and my mum was getting ready to head out. Much to my dismay, when she was at the door, putting on her shoes, I asked her this, “What about your pants?” Needless to say, I laughed my arse off at her humorous reaction to the fact that she was all primped and ready to leave the house with no pants on.

Guess what? Yes, it just happened again. My mum was ready to go out with my dad to get some exercise. Which is all fine and dandy, but again, she nearly left without pants on her. Well, okay, this time the shirt she had on was quite on the long-ish side, but it wasn’t long enough to for it to be a dress. o_O;; I just about died laughing again after I said to her “바지 안 입어?” (Are you not going to wear any pants?) Oh man. Dad asked me what’s so funny, and I simply just could not talk.

Ah, gotta love and enjoy these hilarious moments.

A Respite of Anticipation

July 21, 2007 @ 2:42 am

I should be sleeping. Seriously, I should if I want all the energy to concentrate on the last Harry Potter book. But I can’t sleep! I’m just too antsy, too jumpy. I feel like I’m waiting for one of those Korean executioner to cut my head off with those big swinging Attila the Hun style swords. Another closure is coming upon me in the next twenty hours. The end of the Harry Potter series.

I find it ironic that I will always remember the day when the last Harry Potter book comes out, with that being the day I also read the last book, but if anyone was to ask me when I first read the books, my answer would be a shrug and a “I don’t know.” Seriously, I do not remember when I first read the first book. All I know is that sometime in 1999 and 2000, I read the book. I know I read all four books by the time I became a sophomore in high school. I know that for sure because that’s the topic Eric and I talked about, which ensured our friendship since then.

Before I read the books, I admit that I did think of the series as one of those “overrated things that I don’t want to deal with,” but after reading the first book, I was engrossed, fascinated by it, and ever so glad I borrowed it from a friend. After that I read the third and the fourth book (or was it that I read the third book before I read the second book?!) and then read the second book. Since then I was hooked. I became a follower of the series. Which led to me joining the Harry Potter fandom in June 2002.

I’ve been waiting for this day since I became a die-hard fan of the series. After seven years of waiting, I’ll finally know the end of the series. Much like when the last Lord of the Rings film came out, I will have the answers and all my curiosity will be fulfilled. It’s amazing how much a book series can impact a person’s life, isn’t it? It certainly did with mine. To the point I’m willing to skip class to buy the book and read it almost non-stop, much like I did with the last two books. All of this will be a fitting end.

…Now let’s just hope I do get a copy!

ETA: And I did get a copy for $22.74!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All

July 20, 2007 @ 1:03 am

I’m on a gaming rampage or something. I’ve beaten three games just this month alone. Holy cow. That’s a record for me.

Objection! Get to the point of this entry!

*gives the ever so imaginary Phoenix Wright a glare* Okay, yes I’ve beaten the second instalment of the Phoenix Wright series. Again, the last few days were spent with me running around like a headless chicken with the investigations and glaring at the screen during the trial whenever I got stuck. Despite the quite strange image, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. With its usual strange cast of character (Director Hotti was so on crack…!) and intriguing and intricate storyline, especially in the last case, I just could not put it down.

Hold it! You are gushing like a fangirl, but is there any cons about this one as oppose to the first one?

Well… this game did feel shorter… maybe because it was only four cases instead of five? And well I did dislike the Psyche-locks. I didn’t particularly cared for them. And well… it was annoying to pause during Ini Miney’s valleygirl talk and Moe the Clown’s long laughters! But those were just minor issues. Overall, the game was fine. The characters were still great, and the addition of Franziska von Karma and her whip… fantastic! XD And Miles Edgeworth coming back… *swoon*

Hold it! You like him better than me?!

…Yes, and don’t you DARE compare me with Wendy Oldbag! Anyway! To end this testimony, yes I love the game, and OMG after Harry Potter (TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!) I shall DIE of impatience while I wait for the third instalment in September!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

July 16, 2007 @ 11:59 am

The last few days caused me to have under-eye circles. The lack of sleep comes from a mixture of insomnia, the urge to know what happens, and from playing too much video game, especially Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Hold it! So you’re saying this…er game caused you to not sleep?

Yes, this game was just addicting and suspenseful. The more I played, the more I got sucked into it, despite not knowing anything about any legal system.

Objection! What does law have to do with this game?

Well, this game was a game where I took the job of a defence attorney as Phoenix Wright. He would defend the defendant while the prosecutor, Wright’s rival, objected during Wright’s cross-examination of the witnesses’ testimonies. This game had five cases. Of the five, the last two were the most suspenseful and the longest ones in the game.

The gameplay was divided into two parts: investigation and courtroom. Throughout the entire game, I ran into many … strange and interesting characters, ranging from an old hag of a security guard and a strange patrolman who thought he was a cowboy. o_O;; But regardless of the strangeness, that’s what made the game even more intriguing. There was even a character who spoke in “1337 language.” How scary is that?

I loved Wright’s character. He was filled with the most witty comments, albeit most of them he kept to himself. And I also loved Miles Edgeworth, Wright’s rival as a prosecutor. The two of them had a good chemistry during the court battles. The court is not set up in any way of the real-life ones, but it’s a pretty simplistic one that’s quite powerful and speedy, with a three day limit on them.

With all the quirkiness and eccentricities, I could not put the game down. My curiosity overpowered my need for sleep to find out what was happening. But who can blame me? Anybody who likes a game with a good story, great cast of characters, and loves to investigate and fight justice would probably be in the same shoe as myself. Maybe not quite that extreme, but just enough! It was worth not sleeping much for this game. It was a worthy experience.

– PS: Once again, I thank and blame Belinda for this conflicting emotional overview of my current state of condition! XD I blame her for not getting sleep and thank her for introducing me to this wonderful game series.
