Hiffy & Term II Schedule

September 28, 2006 @ 11:06 pm

Hiffy… my new word of the day.

A combination of “hissy” and “huffy.” Was talking to my current English professor, and the word just came out that way. My strange ways of creating new words… I guess that’s why my forte is creative writing!

Amazingly enough, Term II schedule for UMUC Asia Division is already out. o_O Someone must be doing a craptastic job to bring it out this early. XD I’m not complaining though.

So far these are the face-to-face classes I am considering:

* Mon/Wed night: ENGL 240 - Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, and Drama
* Mon/Wed night: PSYC 355 - Child Psychology (backup)
* Saturday all day: HIST 157 - History of the United States Since 1865

For DE (distance education), I am thinking about:

* JAPN 105 - Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture
* PSYC 355 - Child Psychology

DECISION. ARGH! If I want to utterly kill myself, I can do ENGL 240, HIST 157, and JAPN 105. Another way to utterly kill myself is to take ENGL 240, JAPN 105, and PSYC 355 online.

… However, I only have room for 4-credits lower-level elective class, and all of them are 3-credits. If I take both HIST 157 and JAPN 105, one of them will not be counted fully. I have room for upper-level electives…hence the damn PSCY 355. However, that all depends on the damn syllabus…provided the teacher posts it!

Another thing to keep in mind? Face-to-face session runs from October 30 to December 23. Online session runs from November 6 to February 4.

*sighs and dies* Who’d have known that choosing classes to complete your degree would be this complicated?!

Oktober Fest

September 23, 2006 @ 11:48 pm

Now that I’ve reached the legal age since January, I decided to finally attend the so-called “Oktober Fest” at Dragon Hill Lodge, a hotel on base.

Aside from the nasty beer, and the repetitive choice of sausages and potatoes for food, it was quite fun! The best part was the dessert and this one drink. The apple pie-thingamagie with this cream thingie was yummy. Sarah’s German chocolate torte was absolutely delicious. Also, the Apfel Korn liquor was … YUMMMM! Then we killed our stomach by sharing half of a giant pretzel. x_x;; Bad idea.

Because it was getting loud and crowded in the tent area, we decided to escape to the back of Dragon at the pagoda area. Then we migrated over to the front of the Dragon and looked at stars and talked about random stuff. ^_^

I still don’t see the big fuss about the Oktober Fest, to be honest. I guess it would help if I liked beer and sausages. *sighs* Not having an acquired taste for beer hurts my wallet the most. I prefer the expensive stuff. GAH! My refined tastebuds cost me extra moolas.

Two New FLs

September 19, 2006 @ 10:06 pm

Just a quick post on the fact that I created two new fanlistings this past weekend:

* Honami Yukine
* Honjyo Rie

Those and along with one to Mamahara Ellie, I’ve got my top three favourite manga-kas FLs in my collection. ^_^

… Other than that, I’m exhausted and am hating my schedule. Work + School is not much fun!

Slytherin Costume!

September 14, 2006 @ 10:05 pm

As a big Harry Potter fan since 1999, I finally succeeded in accomplishing what I’ve been dying to do since the first HP movie came out.

I finally put together a Slytherin costume. XD XD XD

Last month, I had ordered a Slytherin crest patch from some crest specialty store in Canada in preparation for my costume. Aside from the crest, I had already had a black pants (no skirts for me!), white collared shirt, and of course my lovely Slytherin scarf my friend Michelle made for me.

All I had left was a Slytherin tie, a wand, and a robe. After much debate and receiving advices from friends, I decided to abandon the idea of getting a custom-made robe and just purchase one that’s already made. I figured that in the end, the price of a custom-made one including buying the material would cost me double or triple the amount of what I could buy online.

Last week, I finally ordered from Alivans.com. I ordered the Majestic School Robe, the tie, and a wand.

Upon arriving home from class tonight, I found the package waiting for me right as I walked in. I had the most goofiest, happiest grin on my face as I raced to find my Xacto knife. I ripped package open, and I looked and tried on my purchase. As I thought, the robe was too long, so I need to get it hemmed. Oh, and I need to get the crest on there as well! ^_^

Oh man, just swinging that wand around and waltzing around the house with my whole outfit (minus the sweater, but I think my aunt will just find me a black or grey V-neck vest if she can’t find a sweater) made me feel like I was a real witch in the Harry Potter world.

Now that I got all the material, I can’t WAIT till Halloween now! XD

Liquid Diet

September 7, 2006 @ 10:05 pm

Liquid diet of any shape and form is the most horrendous thing I’ve been put on for one day today.

Make a long story short, I went to the dentist today. I expected that they were gonna do the whole thing today. Wrong. They ended up doing on one for today.

After they finished, I paid and then asked how long could I not eat or drink.

…Their response: I can drink. I can’t eat till tomorrow. #@()*#@))*#@)__@*)#_)@#

WTF?! Everyone I talked to said that’s very odd and that it should be at least six hours. x_x;; Well, my parents seemed to have believed I should listen to the dentist and pretty much told me not to eat. Aside from having a yogurt bar before going there at 10:00, I survived on water and a half a bowl of soup that my mum made me eat with a straw when I got home just now.

Yes, a straw. I’m a capable Homo sapiens with opposable thumbs, who is not a vegetable, and I had to eat a bowl of soup through a fucking straw.

I made another appointment for a second filling next Friday. I am SO going to ask why they said I could not eat for 24 hours. *growls* I am so eating like a pig tomorrow!
