CMST 385 Done

January 31, 2006 @ 10:51 pm

As of today, I am officially done with my first online class for Maryland. Woot woot! I took the final exam at the UMUC’s computer lab, and boy, I wished all my exams were on a computer like this one is! It’s so much easier to type my answers than write it since my typing speed is up on the par with my brain speed. When I try to write my thoughts the old-fashioned pencil and paper way, it comes out quite sloppy.

Well, these are my results for my CMST class.

Assignment 1 - 7.5 out of 7.5
Assignment 2 - 7.5 out of 7.5
Assignment 3 - 7.5 out of 7.5
Assignment 4 - 7.5 out of 7.5
Project - 30 out of 30
Final Exam - 30 out of 30

I rule! …Not. This class was a basic webpage making class anyways. x_x;; But hey, this is the first class I ever got a 100% on it. :3 Now I am thinking about taking CMST 386 online in the future. It’s a continuation of 385, but it includes CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML. Yay for CSS. Boo for JavaScript and DHTML x_x;; But I do need upper-level electives, so I may as well take that.

Oh well. Now to get Philosophy and English out of the way for this term. Speaking of Philosophy, I’m doing a panel discussion on “Should Homosexual Marriages be Allowed.” I’m of course on the “YES” side. We’ll see how that turns out.

TV Came Back, First Week of School, and a Meme

January 28, 2006 @ 4:46 pm

I finally got my television back. Of course that means that Mummy got one of those nice flat screen, high definition (I think) 30ish~40ish inches television. Am so jealous now. I want one of those. Oh well. I like my tv. It’s good enough for me. Beside, I’m not gonna ask Daddy to get me one of those for couple grands. Nooooo. I’d rather buy it with my hard-earned money. Of course… that’s after I buy a Digital Piano!

Now that I can watch movies comfortably again, instead of on my damn PC (which I barely did anyways), the following movies need to be watched since they’ve accumulated over the month or more. x_x;

- All Dogs Go to Heaven*
- All Dogs Go to Heaven 2
- Back to the Future Trilogy
- Big Fish*
- Dead Poets Society*
- Hidalgo
- Indiana Jones Trilogy
- Latter Days
- Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events
- The Mask of Zorro*
- Maurice
- Once Upon a Time in the West
- Shine (Thanks Sarah! She got it for me as one of my Bday presents.)

The ones with the * next to it means I’ve seen it, but I want to watch it again. Except for Back to the Future Trilogy, Hidalgo, Indiana Jones Trilogy, and Lemony Snicket’s, all of these are mine. I think I overwent on DVD splurging these last couple months. ^^;; Hehehe.

First week of school…Bleh. Philosophy class is not what I’m expecting. And I mean that in a not-so-good way. English, aside from certain negativities, it will be very interesting. I was sort of dreading that class since I wasn’t a fan of Medieval or Renaissance British Literature, but who knows? Maybe I’ll end up liking it. I am quite fond of the British history…I just wished they named their damn royalties, ESPECIALLY Kings, more creative names. I mean why would anyone want to have 8 Henrys?! Or 3 or more Edwards? Bah. Other than that, the history fascinate me.

To close this entry, here’s a small meme that Ying Ying pimp me to do. :3

What animal would you be: A polar bear since they can survive in a cold climate.
Something you want to do in your life: Be a famous writer or movie director. XD Dream on. Realistically, go to Grad school somewhere in Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
One song you could listen to over and over again: Too many songs to name.
Coke or Pepsi: Diet Coke. Tastes better.
Something you currently desire: Endless amount of money, so I can travel and go to my dream school without worrying about the tuition fees.
One good deed you’ve done lately: Listened and be there for a friend.
I’m singling out: Whoever wants to do this!

Partying, Projecting, Packaging

January 23, 2006 @ 8:23 pm

Partying
So I partied like I planned. Jacquie, Sarah, and I all went to TGI Fridays in the Myung Dong area. After I went through a hell of a time with trying to arrange a reservation with them, we managed to get in just fine. And yes, I had my mudslides. MMMMMM. I miss it already. XD.

Then we went back to Itaewon, and I wanted to check out the “infamous” Geckos. Forget it. Crowded, loud, and ain’t worth my time! We left there really quickly, and we went to Bless U. We each had three drinks each, and sadly I didn’t get buzzed. Oh well. We were playing Zengga while we were there, and it was a blast. XD That’s an awesome game.

Then I wanted to go to No Rae Bang, so Sarah and I ended up going while Jacquie went home early. I had fun singing my hearts out; it was a good end to a pretty good bday celebration.

Projecting
I finally finished project for CMST385, my online class. I decided to make a page dedicated to Dreamhost, and so I did. Everyone, here’s Rightful Homage.

Packaging
I ordered three things as a bday present to myself, and while I got the first half of the package on Friday, the last half of it arrived today. These are what I ordered:

* Latter Days (Unrated ver.) DVD
* Maurice DVD
* Maurice the novel by E.M. Forster

Conclusion
Had a very busy weekend indeed. Almost caught up with replacing my lost anime/movies files. That was … time consuming.

Classes officially resume for me tomorrow. Noooooo. I’m gonna miss my bumming around days again!!

21st Birthday Postage

January 19, 2006 @ 9:10 pm

Yeap. Today makes the day official. I am LEGAL! MWAHAHAHAHA! No more hiding from whoever. XD I am legal, baby!

And Jacquie turned a quarter of a century old as well. XD She and I share the same birthday. Woot!

Okay a more sane post, today and yesterday will be broken down into three sections: Goods, Bads, and the Uglies.

The Goods
I got a total of $150 bucks from my parents. Yay… moola for me. Along with an extra $90 and $50 from selling my books and from Jacquie as a present, I feel rich. Hee hee~

Will actually do a more of a 21st Bday partying tomorrow since it’s Friday then. Jacquie and Sarah will be my party buddies. Ah, yes. Chick night it is!

Daddy also finally got me a Western Digital 160gig HD to put in the computer. Jacquie said she’d install it for me. So along with that and my 232gig external HD, I am definitely set.

Mummy cooked me a wonderful meal that consisted of 갈비 (Kalbi), 잡채 (Japchae), potato salad, and what not. The only relative that came was my 이모 (Aunt) and she bought a cake for me. :3 Sadly, she had to go after she ate dinner, along with Jacquie who ate a bit before she went home for her birthday dinner.

So it was just the three of us, my parents and me, who celebrated the cake part of the birthday. I actually liked it. I liked it way better than being surrounded by all these relatives. Ahhhhh. I’m glad people didn’t come. ^_^

The Bads
Jacquie came over today to install the hard drive. x_x;; Well, it took us 30 or so minutes to figure out how to open the case. Once we figured that out, she did the technical part of it while I just watched like a duck on a log. Then she got to the bios part or whatever, and it worked. Or so we thought.

Well, while it did work, it was transferring between my external HD or my master drive really slowly. After about an hour of that annoying fiasco, we discovered that while Windows recognised the new drive, my damn motherboard didn’t. So we went back to the bios part, and once we changed something, it became fast as heck.

Oh and I decided to name my slave drive, Rip Off. Why? I was supposed to get 160 gig. But something or another on the manual and whatnot was telling us that it will drop to 137 gig. So I just accepted it because by then I was getting impatient. The end result? 127 gig instead. Grrrr. Therefore, Rip Off is an appropriate name.

The Uglies
Simply put, due to a very stupid mistake, I lost about 50 gigs worth of animes and movies off my external HD, the only place that had it.

I was backing up everything on my C drive because last thing I wanted was for the C drive files to get messed up. Well, my stuff on the C drive is the same as the one on the External HD. The only differences is that none of my movie files were in the C drive because of the space issue. BTW: this is one of the reasons why I wanted a bigger internal HD.

I was deleting stuff from the External HD to transfer the C drive stuff, and lo and behold, I deleted that directory that had the movie files folder. The window that says the recycle bin was too full, so do you want to permanently delete it came up. I clicked yes. After realising my mistake, it was already done, so I couldn’t retrieve it.

That happened last night. I almost cried. This experience led to making a directory only for movie files instead of sticking it in another main directory which was hidden from me previously. *sighs* So that’s the most crappiest computer experience I ever had. Oh, and I will burn the files once I gather them into Rip Off. I will definitely keep a copy of it that’s not on a damn HD. It will be on my external HD, and on DVDs.

Conclusion
Well folks, that was so far the highlight of me turning 21. I can’t wait till tomorrow though. Going to TGI Fridays will be fun. Ultimate Mudslide, HERE WE COME!

Hit on me, Baby!

January 15, 2006 @ 11:12 pm

I met up with Sarah. We went to watch the new Wallace & Grommit movie at the base theatre. For free, of course! It was a very cute movie. I quite enjoyed it. Grommit was so awesome. XD

Then she and I went to eat at Istanbul. I am so addicted to their Falafel right now.

Then we went to 어쭈구리 (Uh JJoo Goo Li) this HOF place that I like to get soju cocktail once in a while. In there, I saw these three high school girls and two, who I presumed to be, high school boys. Anyways, I was enjoying my time with Sarah, and one of the boys came up to me and slipped a piece of paper and walked back to his place. On the paper it said: “I want your number.”

Sarah and I stared at the paper for a minute, and then I took it and walked over there. I set it in front of him and said, “Excuse me, but I am way too old for these high school games.” He gave me a shock look and said, “But I’m in the army.” Uh… he sure didn’t look like to me. ^^;; After a little chit chat, where I was acting like I didn’t care, he took the paper, and he wrote “Please!” on it. I took the paper back and said, “I’ll think about it.”

I went back to Sarah, and she and I had a good laugh. She told me that she almost called out and said, “Tara, honey, come back to me! I’m waiting.” BWAHAHA. I would’ve had a kick out of it if she said that. I’m notoriously known to pretend I’m a lesbian with my friends to avoid weird guys after all. XD But she didn’t want to cause trouble, so she didn’t say it, sadly.

The night continued on, and the other group soon left. Before leaving, the guy who was “hitting on me” gave me another piece of paper. On this paper, he wrote: “Call me sumetimes Baby! (I’m not in High school.) ####-###-#### !!!!

I just took it and nodded at him, and then he blew me a two fingered kiss and left.

…What an amusing night. The number he gave me happened to be a very weird cell phone number. Most cellphone numbers in Korea start with either 011, 010, 019, 016, or 018. This one it was 0130. Uh he must’ve been that drunk to not even write his number properly. I mean, heck, even if I had any intention of calling him, how do I know if this is even the correct number anyways?

I’m sure he was pretty drunk though. I doubt he’ll even remember who I am tomorrow. Bwahaha. Sarah commented that if he was sober enough, I probably hurt his ego by assuming he was a high schooler. I’m sure I did…XD

Oh well. It made the night very amusing.
