And I survived this week! Although… x_x;; The teacher asked me to sub for him next Thursday and Friday. I told him, Okay, but in my mind I was going… WTF? NOOOOOO!

*sighs*

I got an exam tomorrow. Ugh. And I borrowed the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I’ll finally get to see it! Whee!

The Core

February 22, 2004 @ 5:53 pm (Permalink)

My friend said he liked the movie so I decided to check it out. Let’s just say, I loved it and it was excellent.

Many might not agree with me on this. Granted there were a lot of elements from Armageddon and Deep Impact, but please. This is the generation where nothing is going to be original since it’s practically all done in the past now. Overlooking the “repetition” of familiar elements, I still thought it was original.

After many unexplained, strange events, Dr. Joshua Keyes, played by Aaron Eckhart (who I might add is now my new concubine) was called up by the government to investigate the people dropping dead thing. He viewed the pigeons going bonkers at Trafalgar Square and decided to look into the Electromagnetic Interface. He and couple others looked up all the strange phenenom that happened and put it together.

The Earth’s core had stopped. Without the engine, Earth was going to be destroyed in less than a year. Keyes then decided to share his discovery with Dr. Zimisky. The discovery went all the way to the White House and a project to save the Earth was put together. With the idea of how impossible it was to go through the Earth’s crust and to survive the heat and pressure, Dr. Brazzleton had invented the Unobtanium, a metal that could survive the heat and etc. They built a ship out of it and gathered a crew and went down there.

You can probably guess what happened. I have to say that I did not like Hilary Swank’s character too much or General Purcell. But I did like Keyes, Serge, and Brazzleton. I especially liked how Brazzleton and Zimisky argued a lot in the film. This movie really fascinated me. I read a condensed version of The Journey to the Centre of the Earth several years ago. The idea of going beneath the Earth’s surface is truly a mystery. Up till now we’ve already breached the Space Frontier, but the furthest we’ve ever went down under Earth was seven miles. Fascinating… maybe we will go down there one day.

The concept of the Earth’s core being stalled scared me though. If it did ever happened… er… I don’t want to be there.

All in all I loved this movie. I will give it an A.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

February 22, 2004 @ 5:41 pm (Permalink)

The main reason why I decided to borrow this movie from a friend was because of Sean Connery and the fact I wanted to hear some Scottish accent. Shallow, I know, but that was the main reason.

Overall, I think this movie had potential but kind of didn’t meet them. It was interesting to see some “legendary” literary figures such as Tom Sawyer, Dorian Gray, Dr. Jekyll and Hyde, Captain Nemo, and etc. Sean Connery played an Indiana Jones like character and he and the others were called upon to do a mission to stop someone named Phantom. That was the main point of this story.

The characters intrigued me, especially Dorian Gray. Now I want to read the book. But anyways, I’m not much of an action-adventure type so it was kind of bland for me. The special effects were okay, but some of it just looked too fake for me. I liked the interaction between Connery’s character and Tom Sawyer. And well while I couldn’t figure out WHO the spy was until they showed in the movie, it was kind of stupid.

It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t splendid. I’d give it a C+ I think.

Stressed

February 18, 2004 @ 11:23 pm (Permalink)

I feel like punching something.

I feel like ripping my hair out of my scalp.

I feel like wanting to fucking kill all the seniors and freshmen that bugs the hell out of me.

I feel like a jerk for writing a discipline referral to the v.p.

I feel like wanting to sleep for an eternity.

I feel like I am going to lose my mind after this week.

I feel like I’m going to flunk my next exam even if I received an “A” on the first one.

I feel like … crying and screaming my head off.

I so cannot wait till this week is fucking over.

And I need a break.

I’ve Been Framed

Before I go on, I’d like to congratulate Jen on the acquiration of her new puppy, Rocky! ^_^ No offence, Jen. I Keep thinking of Rocky and Bullwinkle whenever I think of your puppy. Or what’s worse… The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Especially when you mentioned what your puppy like to do to your neck and hear XD.

Anyways… I don’t get why people say that when you get new glasses you are supposed to be dizzy and all that for a few days. I certainly don’t. I adjusted it to it quite well. Even back in 5th grade I adjusted well. I only didn’t adjust good was when they screwed up the prescription. Ah well.

But I can see better now. XD That makes me happy. And I would love to post pictures, but I don’t have a digi cam or a web cam set up now, so the piccies may come later. ^^
