Soprano Sax

February 28, 2003 @ 6:44 pm

I finally tried out a soprano sax. Brandon bought his mouthpiece with the school’s sax. Dangit. I thought it’d be easier blowing on that thing since I was better at high notes on the alto. Uh wrong assumptions. Very wrong. The mouthpiece was smaller. And you had to play it holding up. That sure has heck was impossible. I gotta thanks Min for telling me the proper way of playing that bloody thing. I was playing it like a freaking clarinet and then he saw me and corrected me. x_X;; Does it matter how you play that thing anyways as long as you can play it?

Had to break in the reed. Took me like a good 15 minutes to do that. Once it was broken in, well I discovered that I can’t play the low notes or the very high notes on that bloody thing. The embouchure is totally different from the alto sax. Augh. And for some odd reason the tone of the soprano sax sounded oboe-ish. But after playing that thing I could see why this particular instrument doesn’t belong in a band. It sounds way unique. And god. The fingering. The notes fingering are the same, but my hands are so used to the alto sax that I had trouble playing it nevertheless. Curse the instruments for being so different. I played almost an hour and boy my mouth hurt like fuck. But whatever. It has made me decide to get an alto sax and maybe a soprano in the future or something. Now I just gotta get the money from daddy and go saxophone hunting. That should be interesting. I ought to take my uncle with me.

But yes. That was my experience with the soprano sax. I like my alto better. But a soprano is real good as well. I just need to adjust to it. *sweatdrops* Oh well.

Dye-ing and Reminscience

February 27, 2003 @ 9:38 pm

No I am not DYING, but I dyed my hair. Actually my aunt did it for me, and the result: lighter shade! ^_^ I hate black hair x_X;; Or rather my natural hair colour. But whatever. I like the results. My mum is going nuts about it. Now she wants to dye it like that. I’ve got a weird mum. x_X;; Dad … well he doesn’t care, but since I’ve been wearing eye make-up (black eyeliner and mascara), he says that with this new hair colour, I’ll look freakier. And with that look I won’t be able to get a decent job. Is what he saying true? *sighs* I hope not.

And why the fuck am I teary? Let’s just say one of my all time favourite Korean drama is being reshown again. Yes, Eric, you might know what I’m talking about. Remember Jang Hwee Bin? Yes. It’s on. I got the to the part where the banished queen is back and the bitch-ass queen is being… well bitchy and demented. But anyways for those that don’t know it, I think it’s a true story. If it is, all I cay say about the Korean imperial system back then is that Koreans sure got farked up rulers. XD. It’s dramatic and well it’s sad. Really. I’ve seen it first when I was in 4th (?) grade and well I quite liked it XD. But whatever. I’m just glad it’s back on. Same with my mum. She was going bonkers with that show. It’s like she was treating it like a World Cup game, rather than a drama. *shrugs* Oh well.

Yes Eric. I have seen Ice Age, courtesy of Jen. ^_^ And yes I felt sorry for the squirrel! Poor guy! Yes Steph. Caps and gowns are our graduation thing. Yes the cap is the thing we throw up in the air. And Yayie. I got a feeling I’m gonna miss the routine as well. *sighs* Oi… *snorts* Eric, if you think those stupid dorks at my school actually share my feelings, then I’d rather die. I bet you they can’t wait to get on to college and have a blast and then realise that it’s harder than that and fucking flunk in college. Whoot! XD

And I started Neopets again. x_X I have an on and off relationship with that bloody thing. Aigoo. I need to earn more neopoints dammit! And it’s strangely not easy for me x_X;; Oh well.

Babbles

February 26, 2003 @ 7:58 pm

Many thanks to Jen for giving me that mp3. I am definitely getting their new album and you guys that know me well know I rarely buy music CDs.

I don’t understand why some people considers them to be whining artists. I find profound meanings to their lyrics. It relates to me so much. I mean that’s what captivated me in Hybrid Theory. When I got that album, I had never heard any of the songs. But once I heard the first track and read the lyrics along, it just threw me over. And of course I am biased toward Shinoda-sama. ^_^ But really… I see nothing bad about them. They are just wonderful artists with deep lyrics. I want to get their new album, Meteora. I must get it.

I got my cap and gown today. Oh god… I honestly cannot wait till my graduation day. It seems so far off… but the sensation of graduating also scares me. As much as I hate that bloody school, it’s … unfortunately like my 2nd home. I’ve been going to that school since 7th grade. What was that term from The Shawshank Redemption…? Institutionalised. I got a sick feeling that school sort of made me become that. Most likely I haven’t, but … it’s what I’ve only seen for 6 years. It’s just strange… how I will need to get a job and need to go to college. It’s like I’m gonna actually miss the routine of school. Perish the thoughts, but it’s true. Oi… institutionalised…but yes I was like Jekyll and Hyde with my cap and gown. In front of my friends I was deliriously happy. But now it’s just like … I am not anticipating it. I think something is wrong with me. Oi…

Xzibit Concert

February 23, 2003 @ 3:05 am

Oh my god. That was one kickass concert. Of course Chilli Peppers was better, but this was an interesting one as well. But anyways on to my blogging.

Again, I had to fight with my mum to get permission to go. My dad is so lenient. My mum isn’t. My mum said no and I asked why and she said that she doesn’t want me to because she say I will have my chance during college. Right whatever. Good artists hardly come to Korea, so fuck that bullshit. But whatever. In the end I won. After being a very immature bitch about it, but whatever. I ended up buying the ticket at Dragon. It was 46 bucks for the concert and the actual party. Not a bad deal.

But yes. Jen, Charles, Drew, James, and I were the ones going. We met at Drew’s. Went to Gate 17 to catch a shuttle bus for 2,000 won, which was about 1.50 I suppose. Got there in an hour. It was being held at Sheraton Grand Walker Hill Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. We got there. Got our tickets approved, got a wrist band thing. Waited till after 8 o’clock. Got in and … Blah.

The first hour and a half nearly killed me. I was standing up near the front and during that time all these Korean rappers came on stage. I wanted to just DIE. Some of them were good, but it dragged on like forever. The only good part was that I discovered that they were selling alcoholic drinks. Yes alcoholic drinks! Which was funny because they weren’t gonna sell and then they were. XD Good thing they don’t check IDs! I got me a screwdriver! Mwahaha! And I didn’t get buzz! Good for me!

Well throughout the programme, we went in and out of the ballroom. Other than Korean artists, we saw Big Boy, DJ Eman, Hound Dog (I think that’s his name?), and of course Xzibit!~ Or should I call him Xzidit or Xzigbit. *laughs* Koreans just misspell his name a lot ^^;; Poor guy. We got quite a kick out of that when we saw the name misspelled. But damn. They were good. I tolerate rap/hiphop, but didn’t care about them as much. However after this concert, it changed my views about it. They were good. Their songs got nice beat to it and even though I didn’t understand half the lyrics (I need to READ the lyrics to understand what they are saying), I enjoyed it.

However the best part was when the concert was over. The after-party had started and Xzibit and Hound Dog, were in the back doing autographs. We were able to get pretty close to them, but we couldn’t get autographs at first. The damn security (I believe they are the same ones from the Chilli Peppers concert) wouldn’t let us get autographs unless we bought tape, cd, or tee-shirt, for ridicoulous amount of money. >_< ;; DAMN! But then Charles, Went up to them behind the line, called and complimented Hound Dog. He was like telling Charles to come over, but the damn security wouldn't let us through. So instead Charles handed him his Kobe Bryant jersey and Hound Dog and Xzibit signed it. Oh my god. That was just awesome! What is with our luck with our two concerts so far! I didn't get anything signed (unless you count me asking some Korean rapper I liked, and we happened to see him outside), but I didn't care. ^^ I got to see them up REAL close. That is good enough for me. And beside Charles is the hiphop fan, so he deserves it.

Man I think I danced in there more than ever. Of course we didn’t really danced, but we sure moved to the beat a lot. And had our hands up in the air. ^_^;; Ah… it was fun! It was worth it!

Bored at school. I am ahead in my Java class. It’s quite frustrating and fun at the same time. Whatever. I’m just gonna do a survey I stole from Kali.
